Dr Clifford Craig CMG was born and educated in Melbourne before moving to Tasmania.He has immersed himself in the history of his adopted state. he is well known for his part in establishing the National Trust of Australia (Tasmania) and as a collector and author. He is the recognised authority on Old Tasmanian Prints.

The book has chapters on the pre-settlement explorers; many sorts of illustrations of Tasmania: illustrations in guide books and directories adn Australian newspapers & journals.
