EARLY BUILDINGS OF SOUTHERN TASMANIA continues the study of 19th Century architecture in Tasmania, which began with the earlier publication Early Houses of Northern Tasmania, written in collabration with Edith Craig in 1964.

The two volumes containing almost 400 illustrations, cover buildings of every kind from cottage to Government House, domestic, public and commercial, urban and rural. The text, a product of years of painstaking research in which the author has received much help from, the Tasmanian State Archives and other sources of official record, from those associated with the National Trust and from many interested individuals, brings the past of this fascinating era to life.
